Positive frustrations
It's been years since I've had this feeling.. yung feeling ng nagwoworry ka kasi hell week na. I've been doing quite good this semester. actually this is one of my best semester (well next dun sa sem na naging College Scholar ako). pero eto ako ngayon worried na worried dahil ang daming requirements, well actually madami din akong time pero... ayun nahahaluan ng katamaran. Kapag mag-isa ako I always tell myself na it's about time to start ending of my college life. Ending not in the way that someone I knew defined. Ending na yun tipong grumraduate ako sa UP kasi natapos ko yung course at hindi dahil nadismiss ako or something. As far as i know chem lang ang iffinals ko pero yung requirements grabe matangkad pa ata sa akin pag pinagpatong-patong. Design, report, exam, assignment, design, powerpoint, written report, oral report, full report, exam... grabe nahihilo na ako.. nakakapagod, nakakastress (lalo na kung walang stress reliever), Minsan naiisip ko na this is just a waste of precious time na sana inispend ko na lang yung time na yun with my friends, nakakabadtrip pag minsan. Pero kapag nakita mo yung result ng pinaghirapan mo like you see a 1.0 somewhere in your test paper, pag sinabi ng instructor mo na "wag mo na baguhin yan uno na yan e", pag yung tipong kahit talo ka ng rival mo ok lang kasi lamang lang sya ng 1.5 points at kayo ang top 2 sa exams and the third placer is around 20-30 points behind, nakakatuwa. You feel so elated. parang feel mo na UP student ka talaga. Nakakasawa din maging bum, i've been a bum for like 7 years and this is the first time that I started and ended the semester seriously. Mahirap maging diligent, mahirap imaintain ang standing, mahirap makakuha ng uno sa classcard, pero UP student ako e walang mahirap mahirap sa amin. Nakakatamad lang :D

Teh Ilijan Power Plant field trip and "plant" inspection
Last March 4, 2007 our class in Chemical Engineering 199 (PLant Inspection and Seminar) had a field trip in KEILCO Ilijan Combined Cycle Power Plant in Batangas. We departed at around 6 am. and by 7 am we are already in Star Tollway. Ang akala ko malapit na since yung Star Tollway yung nagcoconnect sa batangas sa ibang parte ng Southern Luzon. pero hinde! grabe inabot kami ng 3 oras from the Star Tollway to the Power plant. But the journey there was fun. Tapos ang daming parol, so nafigure-out namin na pasko pa lang dun sa town nayun. and as we go farther, the father we travel back in time. There's this village na ang name ay "Good Man's village" so we though na panahon pa ng mga Amerikano yung time dun. And yung last town na nadaanan namin before the Power Plant ay panahon pa ata ni Rajah Sulaiman. Nakakatawa nga e, yung isa pang town nangangampanya pa lang si gloria dun, 2004 ata yung time dun. heheh after 4 long hours we arrived at the power plant. di sya ganun kaexciting as i expected. i have been on a combined cycle power plant, first gas ata yun. tapos mas ok pa yung trip dun. actually badtrip yung tour namin sa power plant, we only went to the control room and the water treatment facility. ang corny! sa first gas pumunta kami sa turbine and generator room. tsaka sobrang wala akong nakuhang info na mahalaga sa plant inspection. Si Ria ata sa sobrang corny nung trip e medyo iba na ang pagkakaintindi sa plant inspection :P she inspected different kinds of plants :D well 1/4 of the time sa plant nagtour kami, the other 1/4 went to eating, and the remaining 1/2 went to sleeping. grabe boring! pero pagbalik namin sa van nagkabuhay ulit. :D as i have said earlier, Ria planned to inspect some "plants". actually balak nya talaga kunan ng picture yung power plant from a different angle pero sa tuwing iccapture nya haharangan yung image ng mga "plants" hehehe all in all we enjoyed the trip to the plant and the trip back to LB. regarding the tour in the power plant, mas ok pa sana kung nagcasual trip na lang kami sa different plants dun sa place since madaming plants dun na pwede iinspect. Tsaka di ba nila nahahalata na sawang-sawa na ang mga Chem Engg Students sa power plants! ang dami daming ibang plants na pwede iinspect bakit kaya power plant pa.. it would have been a lot educational kung dun kami na cement plant or petrochemical plant ng JG summit. wala lang. :D
Here are some of the pics dun sa trip namin :D

Tonight we dine.. in hell!
grabe di ko alam kung matutuwa ako o mababadtrip ako. well mostly natuwa naman ako. actually wala naman talaga ako plans yesterday to do anything eventhough medyo ramdam na ang hell week the Chem Engg depoartment. tapos i decided to start and finish the ChE170 report. grabe simula 8:30am till mga 6:00pm gumagawa ako ng report. hindi naman kami nagrurush kasi next week pa naman yun pero. i never imagined the kaya ko mag-acad mode ng ganun... actually di ko pa nga ata nagagawa yun in ever sa UPLB life ko.. well i wouldn't have done it if not for my partner/rival/friend/hdhe na si Ria. well i guess it's time to thank her for everything. God really has a funny way of showing a person the right path.. :D malapit na kasi mawala ang buhay ko sa kung saang kanto.. i just hope it's not too late to return to my true path.. with 2 weeks to go till hell week, i am very prepared to take you on! tonight.. we dine.. in hell! >:D

Ads, Blogs, and Playstation Portable
All I want for Xmas is a PSP
Nowadays, web logs; commonly known as blogs are as rampant as mushrooms sprouting after a storm. Almost every person i know has a blog. even a 10-year old has a blog! But the most groundbreaking news I've ever encountered was using blogs to advertise. A couple of days ago I've read from a news network site that Sony Computer Entertainment America apparently used a PR blog to advertise their product, the Playstation Portable. What's amusing or rather shocking for some is that they used an imaginary hip-hop musician named "Charlie" to praise the said product. the blog aimed to help children coerce their moms to buy PSP's with the help of the said blog. Some people found it very offending using imaginary people to praise their product. The issue has been very widespread until recently Sony finally admitted that they really did that and editing "Charlie"'s blog saying that they have been "a little too clever". Well in my opinion it really is not an issue whether Sony used and imaginary boy to advertise, it's their job after all. It's like praising your Nintendo Wii for being very innovative and creative in their design when in fact the controller really sucked ass (who in the right mind would think of throwing their Wii controller at your TV?). What I'm trying to say is that even if Sony used blogs to praise their PSP it is still up to our parents if they will buy the product or not. In a 3rd world country like the Philippines I don't think that will have a very large effect. But still I'm hoping that the next time my mom surfs the net, she would glance upon that wonderful blog. Unfortunately http://alliwantforxmasisapsp.com has been removed by SCEA. T_T
